Job Description
Baxterstorey is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter to join our team in Barrow-in-Furness, United Kingdom. As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of our kitchen operations, ensuring a smooth workflow for our culinary team.
* Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas to maintain high hygiene standards
* Dealing with deliveries bringing in stock and putting it away.
* Operate dishwashing machines and handle manual washing of pots, pans, and other kitchen items
* Assist with basic food preparation tasks as directed by the kitchen staff
* Organise and store kitchen supplies and equipment in their designated areas
* Empty and clean waste bins, ensuring proper disposal of rubbish
* Support the kitchen team by replenishing supplies and assisting with deliveries
* Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food hygiene standards
* Maintain a clean and tidy kitchen environment throughout the shift
* Report any faulty equipment or maintenance issues to the supervisor
* Assist with additional kitchen duties as required
Qualifications
* Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods
* Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and safe handling of cleaning chemicals
* Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils
* Understanding of basic food hygiene and safety practices
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
* Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
* Previous experience in a similar role or kitchen environment is desirable but not essential
* Willingness to learn and take direction from kitchen staff and management
