The Africa Health Organisation (AHO) plans to raise capital to build a university hospital in Harare, Zimbabwe. Our goal is to ensure health equity and positively impact the lives of people. We need an ambitious capital appeal strategy to meet this goal.
What you will do
In this pivotal role you will plan and execute capital funding writing efforts, secure major donors, manage grants and proposals, mentor volunteers, and inspire a team to deliver high‑value fundraising success. You will develop strategies to raise the £250 million needed for the university hospital and contribute to Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 for a high‑quality health care system.
Qualifications
* Degree level education.
* At least five years of senior high‑value fundraising experience.
* Track record of securing five‑ to six‑figure funding, and experience with high‑value donors and statutory funders.
* Line‑management of fundraisers and experience in developing a diverse funding portfolio.
* Experience managing senior volunteers and fundraising committees.
* Ability to work under pressure to meet timelines and objectives.
* Experience managing performance of others.
Knowledge & Understanding
* Management and development of database/CRM systems.
* Legislative environment related to fundraising and communications.
* Understanding of health issues affecting Black people.
* Appreciation of African culture.
Abilities & Skills
* Excellent English writing and presentation skills.
* Adaptability to different audiences – donors, volunteers, team members, learners.
* Outstanding communication, resourcefulness, resilience.
* Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
* Creative thinking, project management, sales and negotiation abilities.
Desirable
* Evidence of continual professional development.
* Member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.
* Proven success of personally securing seven‑figure major gifts.
* Experience leading a multi‑million‑pound appeal.
