Principal Designer Job in Maidstone, Kent
across the UK, working on critical telecoms, infrastructure and manufacturing projects for a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy. The role offers hybrid working and can be based from their office in Plymouth, Bristol, Exeter, Kent, St Austell, Chichester, Manchester, Peterborough, Bury St Edmunds or Torquay. Offering a salary of £40,000 – £65,000, this role is ideal for a technically strong Principal Designer looking to lead complex national projects and support clients in complying with the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations.

Role & Responsibilities
1. Lead Principal Designer role ensuring compliance with Building Safety Act and Regulations
2. Manage Building Safety Regulator applications through all Gateways
3. Provide expert advice on regulations for complex telecoms, infrastructure, and manufacturing projects
4. Review design information for health and safety compliance
5. Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies
6. Support design and delivery of specialist clean and secure environments
7. Develop build programmes prioritising business continuity.
Required Skills & Experience
8. Experience in a Principal Designer or senior design role with responsibility for CDM and building regulations
9. Strong understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022 and Building Regulations
10. Proven ability to manage applications to the Building Safety Regulator
11. Relevant degree in architecture, architectural technology, engineering, or construction-related field
12. Chartered membership or working towards with recognised bodies such as RIBA, ARB, or CIAT
13. Experience delivering complex commercial, infrastructure, or industrial projects
14. Full UK driving licence.
