Overview

Are you a qualified Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nursing) looking to start your career or make the move to our dynamic, forward thinking team of 0-19 practitioners?

We highly value the contribution that the Specialist Practitioner (School Nursing) makes to improving outcomes for children, young people and their families, using evidence-based, early intervention strategies.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Specialist Practitioner (School Nursing) to join and complement our forward-thinking Dorset 0-19 CYP Public Health Teams. This role is in the Purbeck and Poole West localities within the 0-19 CYP Public Health Team based in Purbeck and Poole West. This post is a permanent part time post of 22.5 hours per week, year round with no weekend working, some hybrid working and flexibility with hours. You will be required to travel across both localities areas and be present within teams and schools alike.

Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.

Main duties of the job

As a Specialist Practitioner, you will lead and participate in the School Nursing core programme, as underpinned by the Healthy Child Programme and the high impact areas and will work in partnership with children, young people and families, the Local Authority, Early Intervention Services, Children's Services, Schools and other Health Care providers.

You will manage the members of the 0-19 team effectively, delegating within the skill mix team and sharing knowledge and skills across the 0-19 team. To assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist interventions and packages of care to people on an allocated caseload; promoting independence and autonomy; working within a multi-disciplinary team. Advance own clinical knowledge, skill and competence based on current evidence through advanced educational programmes.

To communicate effectively in verbal and written form in the exchange of highly complex, sensitive, or contentious information in difficult situations using de-escalation, mediation, resolution and professional Duty of Candour.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
