Electrical Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Location: Stort region - Saffron Walden / Harlow
Salary: Up to £50,194 depending on experience (including 1 in 5 standby payment)

What You’ll Be Doing
* Perform electrical and mechanical fault-finding, repairs, and maintenance on critical water treatment infrastructure.
* Interrogate PLC systems and work with complex treatment processes.
* Conduct planned and preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns and improve efficiency.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot faults to minimize downtime.
* Collaborate with the production team and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
* Ensure compliance with water quality and health & safety regulations.
* Keep accurate records and documentation.
What We’re Looking For
Must-Haves:
* City and Guilds Electrical Installation Level 3 or equivalent.
* Proven experience in a maintenance engineering role.
* Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
* Knowledge of PLCs, motors, and the ability to interpret electrical schematic drawings.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Proactive, problem-solving mindset with great attention to detail.
* Understanding of health & safety regulations.
* A positive, adaptable attitude — you’ll be tackling new challenges daily!
Desirable experience
* Experience in the water industry, manufacturing, food production, automotive, or similar fields.
* A recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering (e.g., NVQ, HNC, HND, or equivalent).
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.

A Day in the Life of a Production Technician
* No two days are the same — you may climb water towers for inspections, diagnose and repair a pump failure, investigate an electrical fault inside a control panel, carry out routine calibrations on critical equipment, or take a reservoir out of supply for essential maintenance.

Salary breakdown
* Basic £40,137 + Flex Allowance: £4,884 (Salary offered dependent on experience) + additional Stand-by payment: 1 in 5 = £6,830 (separate payment on top of salary)
