As a General Sales Manager, you’ll play a key role in the progress of the business by meeting targets alongside the management team. Friendly and professional, you’ll inspire your team to make every customer’s experience at the dealership exceptional. Naturally confident, with a wealth of managerial experience you will have strong leadership skills and the ability to implement change to take the dealership to new heights.
You will be ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the New & Used Vehicle Sales Department, be a natural people person who can build great relationships with customers, manufacturer partners and colleagues. You will have the drive and determination to create and maintain a team that always delivers the best customer service and have previous experience of managing a Vehicle Sales Department in a franchised car dealership.
Responsibilities
* Team management and development
o Carry out recruitment and selection of new team members per Jemca’s recruitment policy.
o Establish and agree individual targets for team members.
o Ensure the sales team attends all company and manufacturer training when needed.
o Encourage, support and motivate the team, making it an enjoyable environment.
o Appraise and coach the team to maximize their potential and the department’s success.
* Customer management & communication
o Be involved directly with customers daily, ensuring complete satisfaction.
o Train and motivate staff to deliver best possible service.
o Resolve all customer complaints by following team procedures and regain satisfaction.
* Inventory Management
o Ensure New Vehicle & Demonstrator stock is managed per Jemca’s policies and manufacturer programmes.
o Ensure Used Vehicle stock is managed per Jemca’s Used Car stock policy guidelines, turnover within specified period.
o Manage and review working capital for the department.
o Adhere to auction-only disposal process for all trade vehicles.
o Maintain showroom & used car displays, ensuring immaculate presentation.
* Department budget management
o Monitor daily financial performance and take corrective action.
o Maintain effective cost control.
o Manage BM/F&I performance in line with company requirements & KPIs.
o Review debt status and take action when needed.
o Control invoicing process to ensure accuracy.
o Review pricing policies and deals.
o Develop and operate advertising and promotional activities with marketing plan.
o Review costs and effectiveness of marketing spend.
o Monitor performance across team and individually.
o Maintain appropriate staff levels, weekly rota, holidays to minimise impact.
o Ensure compliance with FCA standards and manufacturer’s standards.
o Provide updates to senior management on performance, results and future plans.
o Carry out other duties when needed at the centre.
* Skills and Qualifications
o Relevant experience in a leadership role.
o Proven track record in automotive sales.
o A clean, current driving licence.
o Experience and skills to review financial, volume and operational objectives.
