Overview
Training Delivery Instructor - Pipefitter Engineering at Capita. Project Selborne is a Transformational Training programme with the goal of modernising Royal Navy training to deliver better trained sailors to the front line faster. The role supports delivery of training across Coppersmith/Pipefitter skills within the Skill of Hand Training group. This term-time role is 45 weeks per year, with non-working weeks at Christmas, Easter, and 3 weeks in August; salary is pro rata and includes contractual annual leave entitlement and bank holidays. Eligibility for UK Security Clearance at SC level is required.
What you'll be doing
* Provide training on how to fit pipework on ships from drawings (Fit from design).
* Teach Brazing techniques.
* Maintain strong working relationships with customers and colleagues within the Marine Engineering Electrical training area.
* Support trainee development through assessment, feedback, and personalised learning approaches.
* Maintain and update training materials, and contribute to modernising and improving training delivery.
* Ensure compliance with KPIs, SLAs, and safety standards, while maintaining a CPD portfolio.
What we're looking for
Essential Skills/Experience/Qualifications
* Minimum Level 3 Technical Certificate in an Engineering discipline
* Proficient in the use of IT (hardware/software) within the workplace
* Competent practical Coppersmith/Pipefitter hand skills
Desirable Skills/Experience/Qualifications
* Level 4 Teaching Qualification / DCTS Defence Train The Trainer Course or equivalent (successful completion)
* Previous instructional experience in a military or civilian engineering environment

The contract worth GBP 1 billion was awarded in December 2020 to a consortium led by Capita to deliver and modernise training for the RN. The consortia of partners known as Team Fisher includes Raytheon UK, Fujitsu and University of Lincoln together with 14 other UK-based suppliers. We are using our expertise in digital transformation to review service design, modernise courses, and deploy cutting-edge technology to enhance courses including synthetic training (simulator) systems and data analytics. This programme is a shared endeavour working alongside the Royal Navy's Training Management Group (TMG) as a single integrated team.
