Education Mental Health Trainee Practitioner
We are looking to recruit 4 Education Mental Health Practitioners in training to be part of a dynamic forward-thinking innovative team that works into schools and colleges.
The Mental Health Support Team (MHST) is part of a national rollout and has delivered successful results in the East Riding since September 2022. The MHST is part of the Thrive approach to Children and Young peoples mental health framework endorsed through the Emotional and Mental Wellbeing Academy.
The MHST supports schools, colleges and the wider system through advice, support, consultation, whole schools approaches staff training and targeted interventions using CBT.
The successful candidates will embark on a one-year training course at an identified University to gain a post graduate diploma qualification. The role will be a combination of learning through an active caseload in service, university lectures, portfolio work and assignments.
Successful candidates must be prepared to step into post January and February 2026.
Main duties of the job:
* Become part of a dedicated team of qualified Education Mental Health Practitioners and Senior Practitioners from multi-disciplinary backgrounds.
* Access university for two days a week to undertake learning through face to face and online lectures and experiences.
* Hold a small caseload to deliver outcome focused evidence-based interventions for children, young people and families experiencing mild to moderate emotional and mental health needs.
The training and service experience aims to equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in an inclusive, passionate innovative MHST.
On successful completion of the course post holders will move from a band 4 salary to a band 5.

Person Specification
Essential
* Knowledge of educational systems in England
* Knowledge of a range of Children's Universal/ Targeted interventions and support services and Specialist Mental Health Services
* A good understanding of Child development and Children's mental health to diploma level equivalent including mental health legislation
* Knowledge and understanding of the national development and the local implementation of the Mental Health Support Teams
* Undergraduate degree or equivalent level 6 qualification, or experience to demonstrate the ability to undertake academic study at post graduate level

* Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues related to children and young people and the impact it can have on mental health

* Demonstrable experience of working within the identified service area/life experience of coping with Children's emotional health and mental wellbeing needs /or as an active carer
