The role:
Planning Engineer
This role involves working within Operational Maintenance Planning to develop comprehensive plans that meet complex compliance and operational needs. It requires collaboration with various stakeholder groups across BA's operations. The role is fast-paced and shift-based, demanding resilience, prioritization, technical knowledge, and problem-solving skills.
We're seeking a team player with strong communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and proficient digital literacy. Aircraft engineering experience and understanding of aviation regulations are essential.
What you’ll do:
* Develop operational maintenance and casualty plans, ensuring compliance and customer satisfaction
* Optimize maintenance opportunities through data analysis
* Manage ADD / Op Def clearance processes and monitor progress
* Assess financial and operational impacts of decisions, considering potential consequences
* Respond to external factors affecting plan delivery
* Coordinate resource management across departments to meet objectives
* Apply engineering principles in decision-making and planning
* Maintain high-quality communication with stakeholders, suppliers, and customers
* Potentially stand in for the Team Leader
* Contribute to process improvements for efficiency and value
* Ensure optimal use of hangars, manpower, and components
* Establish standards and policies for planning
* Develop and utilize metrics and dashboards
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
* Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills
* Extensive aircraft maintenance planning experience or knowledge
* Ability to adapt planning in complex environments
* Data analysis skills
* Influencing and communication skills
* Ability to meet deadlines and manage expectations
* Strong organizational skills and IT literacy (SAP, AirOps, Excel)
* Innovative problem-solving abilities
Your experience:
* Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/degree) or equivalent
* Recognized apprenticeship or industry experience
* Knowledge of EASA regulations, including Part-M and Part-145
* Understanding of Aircraft Maintenance Planning
* Aircraft technical knowledge and operational understanding are desirable
