Work Schedule Standard (Mon-Fri) Environmental Conditions Office Job Description Senior Manager, Payroll Transformation Operational Readiness Description The Senior Manager, Payroll Transformation Operational Readiness plays a critical leadership role within the Global Payroll Transformation organization. This role ensures that Payroll Operations, Colleague Services, and related stakeholders are fully prepared to adopt new systems, processes, and ways of working resulting from the Payroll & Time transformation. The role provides structured governance, oversight, and leadership across all readiness activities, ensuring that operational teams have the clarity, capability, and confidence to operate effectively, reinforced by standardized processes, future-state SOPs, coordinated training, and readiness quality checks. This role partners closely with Payroll Operations, HRTS, HR Service Enablement, the Change & Communications workstream, Colleague Services, and Transformation project leadership. The Senior Manager is accountable for ensuring quality, consistency, alignment to global standards, and successful readiness outcomes across all countries. This role may require travel up to 25% based on program and stakeholder needs. Key Objectives Ensure payroll operations teams are fully prepared-through governance, oversight, and structured readiness leadership-to operate effectively in the post-go-live environment Drive alignment to global payroll standards, readiness methodologies, and transformation frameworks Lead current-to-future state gap analysis, ensuring operational, process, and documentation gaps are identified, prioritized, and remediated Oversee development of process documentation, SOP alignment, and change impacts, ensuring consistency and quality within and across regions Lead and direct the analyst responsible for process mapping, transaction inventories, and documentation foundations Ensure operational risks, issues, dependencies, and impacts are identified early, addressed promptly, and escalated when necessary, using project plan, RAID log, and change log program tools Primary Responsibilities Leadership Provide global governance and oversight of all payroll readiness activities, ensuring alignment to transformation methodologies and standards Establish clear expectations, timelines, quality gates, and deliverable standards for all readiness contributors Review and approve readiness deliverables including process maps, transaction logs, SOP inventories, and future-state documentation Lead readiness meetings, change-log reviews, and cross-functional alignment forums Ensure Payroll Operations executes readiness activities requiring deep operational and system expertise, while providing leadership oversight and quality assurance Process & Gap Analysis Oversee the publishing, maintenance, and accuracy of process documentation and end-to-end SOPs Govern the end-to-end process documentation lifecycle, ensuring completeness and alignment with future-state designs Lead and validate current state to future state gap analysis, ensuring impacts, risks, and required remediation actions are clearly defined and tracked Confirm that all process impacts identified through blueprint, testing, and configuration changes are reflected in documentation, SOP updates, and readiness plans Approve the scope and prioritization of SOP and documentation updates executed by Payroll Operations Partner with Transformation workstreams to ensure process mapping, transaction inventories, and documentation foundations meet readiness requirements Provide direction, prioritization, and quality oversight for the analyst responsible for as-is mapping, transaction logging, and future-state documentation inputs Change, Communications & Training Coordination Partner with HR Operations stakeholders to ensure knowledge articles, employee-facing materials, and support content are updated and aligned to future-state processes Collaborate with the Change & Communications workstream to ensure appropriate messaging, timing, and stakeholder engagement for all payroll-related changes Oversee and coordinate the training strategy and execution, ensuring alignment with program standards while partnering with SMEs and stakeholders for content delivery (no direct ownership of training delivery) Ensure training completion, readiness metrics, and reinforcement activities are tracked and aligned to go-live readiness checkpoints Hypercare Lead the design, governance, and approval of the hypercare plan, coordinating closely with Regional Payroll Directors and Operations teams During go-live and hypercare, provide structured leadership, support, coaching, and escalation management to ensure that hypercare exit criteria are met Governance Approve operational readiness deliverables in alignment with the transformation project plan Own Operational Readiness components of the integrated project plan Establish and govern hypercare scope, structure, and escalation paths Define and enforce readiness methodology, templates, and quality expectations Lead decision-making related to readiness risks, operational impacts, and prioritization Experience & Competencies Required Significant experience in payroll operations, payroll transformation, or readiness leadership within a global or matrixed organization Strong program management, governance, and leadership capability Deep understanding of payroll processes, including ADP GlobalView experience Proven experience leading current-to-future state process analysis and gap identification Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence without authority, and drive standardization Experience in process mapping, documentation oversight, and operational change Thermo Fisher Scientific is an EEO/Affirmative Action Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, disability or any other legally protected status.
