Job Summary

The post-holder will work with the diabetes/general medicine and endocrinology team to provide services to a catchment population across Staffordshire, Leek Moorlands, and North Shropshire. The successful applicant will join a team of 8 Consultants in Diabetes and Endocrinology, supported by junior and middle-grade staff on two 28-bedded acute medical wards where most patients with acute metabolic diseases are admitted.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work across two Diabetes & Endocrinology / General Medicine wards, collaborating with another Junior Doctor and the ward-covering consultant.
Participation in out-of-hours work and weekend ward rounds is required.
Responsibilities include managing patients' day-to-day care, most of whom will have been transferred from other hospital wards.
The consultant facilitates a morning Board Round, with a focus on prompt discharges, aiming for patients to be home before lunch.
