Offer description

The post holder will be responsible for receiving and processing incoming calls and e‑Referrals from the Microbiology Advice Line. You will provide administrative support to the Microbiology Consultants and their team, deputise in the Medical Secretary’s absence, and undertake general office duties.

This post is an apprenticeship and has been matched to business admin level 3. Please note that if you are offered a position, your personal details will automatically be transferred into the national NHS Electronic Staff Records system (ESR).

DBS Information

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing a DBS application is met by the successful applicant(s). DBS costs are recovered via salary deduction following starting in post.

If the post you are applying for requires a DBS, inline with Trust policy the cost of submitting and processing a DBS for successful applications would be met by the individual themselves. The amount would vary depending on the level required: Standard Disclosure £21.50 + £6.50 or Enhanced Disclosure £49.50 + £6.50 (please be aware the additional sum is an administration fee and may increase due to inflation). This will be deducted from your salary, in manageable monthly instalments for up to 3 months following commencement of employment.


Apprenticeship Eligibility

Applicants are responsible for assessing their own eligibility for apprenticeship opportunities in relation to the role they are applying for. Eligibility is determined by specific residency requirements set by government funding rules and is assessed on a case‑by‑case basis. Our organisation cannot guarantee eligibility for all applicants.

UK nationals or individuals with the right of abode typically meet the residency requirement if they have been ordinarily resident in the UK, the British Overseas Territories, or the Crown Dependencies (Channel Islands and Isle of Man) for at least three years prior to the start date of the apprenticeship.

Right to Work/Sponsorship Eligibility

Eligibility to work in the UK will be verified during the final stages of the selection process. All candidates must either already have the right to work in the UK before commencing employment or meet the Home Office criteria for visa sponsorship. Our organisation cannot guarantee sponsorship for all roles, and eligibility is determined by the UK Home Office’s points‑based immigration system on a case‑by‑case basis.

Safeguarding

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all unborn babies, children and adults and is signed up to both the Wirral Safeguarding Children’s Partnership and the Wirral Safeguarding Adults Partnership Board associated policies and procedures. All Trust staff must be familiar with, and adhere to these procedures. The post holder’s responsibility is to attend the Trust’s mandatory training Protecting Vulnerable People training, and to follow the relevant Trust policies and practice guidance.


English and Maths Requirement

Although English and Maths at level 2 is not required for the role, it is a requirement to complete the apprenticeship and must be in place by the end of the apprenticeship. If you do not hold or cannot evidence English and Maths at level 2 then support will be provided for the successful applicant(s) as part of the Trust’s apprenticeship offer.
