Team/Role Overview
Are you looking for a career move that will put you at the heart of a global financial institution? Then bring your skills in analysis, problem solving and communication to Citi's Domestic Payments team. By Joining Citi, you will become part of a global organisation whose mission is to serve as a trusted partner to our clients by responsibly providing financial services that enable growth and economic progress.
The Payments Modernisation program is a multi-year, firm-wide strategic initiative. This VP role is a key position within the execution arm of the program, responsible for driving the delivery of the domestic payments' portfolio. You will work in a close, collaborative partnership with colleagues in Business Design, Technology, Operations, Product, and other critical functions. You will be responsible for translating strategic designs and roadmaps into actionable project plans and ensuring their successful, on‑time delivery. This role is critical for ensuring that our next‑generation payment platforms are built and implemented according to the highest standards.
What you’ll do
* Drive Project Execution: Manage the translation of strategic goals into actionable project plans, program increments, and clear, measurable deliverables for new domestic IP, ACH and RTGS platforms.
* Lifecycle Management: Partner closely with engineering, design, and project management teams throughout the delivery lifecycle—from requirements analysis to implementation and validation—to ensure adherence to established delivery standards and quality assurance processes.
* Dependency and Risk Management: Proactively identify, track, and resolve cross‑project dependencies and roadblocks through effective project management techniques and communication channels.
* Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with global and regional leads to facilitate planning sessions and workshops, ensuring alignment on scope, objectives, and key results for platform enhancements.
* Gap Analysis and Reporting: Conduct continuous gap analysis between current and future‑state platform capabilities, identify areas for improvement, and create and deliver transparent status reports to senior leadership.
* Ensure Adherence to Standards: Champion and enforce the established implementation frameworks, ensuring alignment with the broader business strategy and enterprise standards for payments modernization.
Required qualifications
* Significant progressive experience in project management, program management, or business analysis, with a focus on large‑scale delivery programs.
* Strong domain awareness in the payments industry, including domestic systems like ACH and RTGS (e.g., Fedwire, CHIPS), and an understanding of ISO 20022 messaging standards.
* Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects in a fast‑paced, large‑scale environment. Experience with Agile and other modern project management methodologies is essential.
* Experience working in a heavily regulated environment with a strong understanding of privacy, security, and compliance requirements.
* Comfortable with modern technology concepts; able to engage in detailed discussions with technical teams across development, infrastructure, and production support.
* Exposure to the efficient use of AI tooling to aid and enhance work quality and velocity is highly desirable.
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; master’s degree is a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely to a wide variety of audiences.
* A structured, forward‑looking, and methodical approach to work, with the ability to manage ambiguity and multiple conflicting priorities.
* Very strong collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to build and maintain high‑quality relationships across a complex, global organisation.
* Resilient and calm in the face of pressure, with a focus on learning from setbacks and driving positive outcomes.
