About the Role

Graduated Response Inclusion Practitioners work directly with children, young people, their families and professionals in a variety of settings; to enable them to re‑engage in education.

Supported by the Education Officer and your Manager, you will be expected to manage a caseload of children and young people. You will deliver a package of support to increase children and young people's access to education. You will identify barriers, find solutions and act as an advocate, so that schools can make suitable reasonable adjustments.

You will be part of the staff team primarily covering the East of the county, and part of the wider Inclusion Service Team covering the whole county. Travel across the county is therefore necessary, along with a flexible approach, as some out‑of‑hours working may be required. All work undertaken must be regularly recorded on our databases.

This is a rewarding job delivering interventions with children and young people, supporting them to re‑engage in education, employment and training, empowering them for their future, and giving you a chance to be part of a dynamic team.

An enhanced with barred list DBS check is required for this post.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

* Level 3 in a relevant discipline. Evidence of training or of further study that enhances the applicant's understanding of education, training, employment and careers advice for children and young people or demonstrable experience identified within the section below.
* Experience of engaging with children, young people and their families who are at risk of missing out on educational opportunities.
* Good organisational skills with an ability to work to deadlines. Good listening and communication skills both orally and in writing.
* The ability to take responsibility for meeting deadlines, adjusting tasks and priorities as situations demand.
* Knowledge of child development and an awareness of differing needs of children and young people.
* Knowledge of the education system, including specialist provision and the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and knowledge of partner relationships to seek positive and innovative outcomes for young people around education, training and employment.
* A flexible approach to working, including out‑of‑hours, and an ability and willingness to travel to various locations.

In addition, we also expect you to share our commitment to our values and to delivering accessible and inclusive services which meet the needs of all of our residents. You will be asked to demonstrate your understanding of these commitments as part of the selection process.

Reasonable adjustments will be considered for applicants with a disability. We are a Disability Confident Employer.

Flexible Working

We are open to discussions about flexible working, which may include part‑time working, job sharing, term‑time working, flexible start and finish times, and hybrid working, depending on the requirements of the role and the service.
