Overview
Our receptionists are the first point of contact for those attending the department. They are vital to ensure that patients and visitors are greeted with professional and empathetic service. This role offers variety and the opportunity to train in a wide range of skills that will equip you as your career progresses. Radiology is a busy, patient-centred department and this post is part of a pool of receptionists and the wider administration and clerical team. There is good peer group support and appropriate training provided. We expect candidates to be motivated, hardworking and compassionate with a positive and professional approach to providing excellent customer service.
Essential qualities required are a team player, flexible and the ability to work proactively — at times using one\'s own initiative. The candidate will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with customer care experience. The reception post is the first point of contact for patients, clinicians, and visitors to the department. The Radiology service requires a professional, polite, and confident individual who can demonstrate confidentiality at all times.
Responsibilities
* Liaise with clinical staff regarding patient arrival times and safety information
* Receive enquiries by telephone, email, and an internal intercom system
* Ensure all reception tasks are completed accurately using the electronic systems CRIS and EPR
* Attend patients in real time for their appointments and record and escalate queries to administration and clinical staff
* Conduct follow-up communication with patients who have missed appointments, make courtesy calls, and monitor the waiting area to ensure timely patient accommodation
Qualifications
* Good general level of education to include GCSE English & Math
* Intermediate level of IT knowledge and Microsoft applications
* Proven customer care experience face to face and on the telephone
Desirable criteria
* Working within the NHS
* Hospital computer system experience
* Experience of exercising confidentiality
