Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly team to work as a Senior Biomedical Scientist in the Haematology Department in the position of Quality Manager.
The post holder will be expected to maintain competence in all sections of the laboratory including Blood Transfusion.
The post holder will be responsible for the implementation and management of the Quality Management System. They will also be required to join the Senior BMS Team in developing the Haematology & Blood Transfusion Department, ensuring continual improvement of the Haematology service and meeting all accreditation standards.
The post is 37.5hrs per week which will include shifts on weekends and Bank Holidays. There may also be an occasional requirement to cover night shifts as part of the departmental contingency plan.
Main duties of the job
Toprovide professional leadership and direction for Biomedical Scientists and MLAstaff in all matters relating to the Quality Management System and UKASAccreditation.
Tomanage the day-to-day aspects of maintaining the Quality Management System toensure compliance with ISO 15189 in conjunction with all Section Lead BMSs.
Toensure that the Quality Management System meets user expectation.
Torepresent Haematology & Coagulation as Quality Lead during external auditsand as a member of the Pathology Quality & Accreditation Committee.

1.1Day to day management of the QualityManagement System for Haematology and Coagulation.
1.2Oversee all training of staff in QMSrelated activities in conjunction with Departmental Training Officer.
1.3Ensure adequate resources are availableto ensure that the Quality Management System is fit for purpose.
1.4Monitor EQA performance acrossHaematology and Coagulation and investigate poor performance &out-of-consensus results with Section Lead BMSs and ensure performance statusis shared with all staff.

1.6Responsible for the production of all completedValidation, Verification and Change Management documentation in conjunctionwith Section Lead BMSs.
1.7Produce and maintain all documentationrequired for UKAS ISO15189 accreditation assessments as requested in theassessment plans.
1.8Act as Lead BMS during external auditassessments of the Quality Management System, providing all evidence requiredto demonstrate compliance with ISO 15189.
1.9Liaise with the Haematology Manager on aweekly basis to ensure all matters relating to UKAS ISO15189 compliance inHaematology & Coagulation are addressed
1.10Responsible for preparation andcompletion of all documentation required for the implementation of newequipment & techniques in Haematology and Coagulation. This will beperformed in collaboration with the Haematology Manager and Section LeadBMSs
1.11Responsible for preparing reports forQuality Meetings, including the Pathology Quality and Accreditation CommitteeMeeting. This includes performance on Quality Objectives, Quality Indicators and management of Non-Conformances.
1.12Liaise with Departmental Audit Lead onproduction of Annual Audit Programme and audit performance
1.13Assist Haematology Manager with reviewand Improvement Actions for Incidents and Complaints
1.14Assist Haematology Manager with RiskManagement strategies and completion of documentation
1.15Assist Haematology Manager withfollow-up and Improvement Actions following User Feedback
1.16In conjunction with Haematology Manager,ensure compliance with temperature monitoring and calibration of non-analyticalequipment.

1.21Be able to perform microscopicexamination of stained blood films, reporting of findings, and then authorisingresults or passing to Consultant Haematologists.
1.22Input Patient ID and test request dataonto Laboratory IT system.
1.23Liaise with departmental IT SpecialistBMS on all issues relating to the development of WinPath BHI requirements toensure full functionality as described in SOPs
1.24Participate in the departmental 24/7 shiftrota.
