Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an accomplished administrative professional to join the Safeguarding Unit to work as our Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP) Coordinator. The role is for hours per week, working Monday to Friday, during the hours of 9am-5pm. You will be based at Kingsway Hospital, with the requirement to attend alternative venues (within Derby/Derbyshire) for meetings.
You will be required to support and coordinate the Child Death Review (CDR) Process in Derby and Derbyshire. The aim of the process is to review all child deaths, identify any modifiable factors, make recommendations and disseminate any learning in order to prevent further child deaths.
This is a lynch pin role within the Safeguarding Unit structure so the post holder will need to show initiative and independent judgement, be comfortable with decision making and taking responsibility for their actions.
The successful candidate will be first point of contact for information relating to child deaths and will require excellent written and verbal communication skills. They will enjoy working with numerous agencies, with a mixed and unpredictable workload. Due to the often upsetting nature of this role, this post would suit a candidate who can demonstrate resilience, calmness under pressure and supreme professionalism.
Main duties of the job
To provide efficient and effective co-ordination and business support to the Child Death Review (CDR) process and team on behalf of the CDR Partners.
To co-ordinate child death reviews from notification to CDOP. This includes managing the caseload to ensure all information is received in a timely way. Informing the Lead Nurse when cases are ready to review and escalate any concerns/challenges in the CDR process.
To co-ordinate, organise and provide administrative support to the CDOP meeting, CDR Team and other child death relevant meetings, with the requirement to travel to meeting venues across Derby/Derbyshire. This includes co-ordination of the SUDC/JAR process, the early information sharing meeting and CDRMs (when required).
To provide data and support the production of the CDOP quarterly reports, Annual Report and any other relevant reports.
To manage eCDOP and ensure eCDOP is kept up to date. This includes data cleansing to ensure the data is correct and matches the information with NCMD.
To work closely with the CDOP Team to ensure that a seamless CDR Process and CDOP meeting are delivered on behalf of the CDR Partners.
To be a point of contact for the multi-agency team regarding CDOP including the Police, Children’s Social Care and the Coroner’s Office. The Post holder will also be a point of contact for bereaved parents.
