Strategy Director – Healthcare Advertising
Role Overview
This role is for a senior strategist who believes effectiveness comes from creativity, and creativity is strongest when grounded in sharp commercial and human insight. The Strategy Director will play a central role in shaping high-impact healthcare communications, working across complex, fast-moving brands with significant creative ambition.
The focus is on making the work work, delivering strategy that drives meaningful business results while inspiring bold, distinctive creative thinking.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead strategic thinking across major healthcare and pharmaceutical accounts, owning brand, marketing and communications strategy from insight through execution.
* Act as the strategic bridge between commerce and creativity, translating business challenges, data and research into clear, inspiring creative direction.
* Partner closely with creative, account, data and specialist teams to develop integrated strategies across channels, ensuring consistency, ambition and effectiveness.
* Stay close to the work from briefing through delivery, guiding creative development and ensuring ideas remain both strategically sound and creatively strong.
* Play an active role in new business, thought leadership and agency-wide strategic initiatives beyond core accounts.
Strategic & Commercial Capability
* Apply a deep understanding of business fundamentals, growth drivers and risk to shape strategies that deliver measurable impact.
* Use data, research and insight to uncover opportunities, challenge assumptions and sharpen creative ideas.
* Define and champion effectiveness frameworks, ensuring work can clearly demonstrate commercial and behavioural results.
* Frame marketing as an investment, not a cost, helping clients understand the value and impact of creativity.
Creative & Engagement Expertise
* Develop creative strategies that balance rigour and imagination, turning insight into work that resonates emotionally and performs commercially.
* Design engagement and communications models that make smart use of channels, platforms and experiences to drive behaviour change.
* Confidently guide creative ambition, challenge teams to think differently and push beyond expected solutions.
* Bring a strong understanding of modern marketing, brand building and audience engagement within healthcare contexts.
Leadership & Collaboration
* Provide clear strategic leadership, setting direction and rallying multidisciplinary teams behind a shared ambition.
* Build trusted partnerships with clients and internal teams, combining authority with collaboration.
* Mentor and develop junior strategists, raising standards and contributing to a strong, positive strategy culture.
* Contribute to the broader strategic voice of the agency through writing, presenting and influencing thinking.
