PAXMAN ACADEMY LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT Pay Range: Local Government Pay Scale 3, Points 5-6 Actual Salary from: £18,667 – £18,963 per annum Start Date: September 2025 The Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a caring individual to become a member of our SEND team. Your role will be to support students with various SEND needs to provide specialist provisions to overcome their barriers to learning. Paxman Academy opened to Year 7 students in September 2019 and is a co-educational, fully comprehensive 11-16 Academy with a PAN of 180. It is a heavily oversubscribed school which is held in high regard in the community. Our recent Ofsted inspection (February 2024) rated our school as Good. This post is 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time plus non-pupil days). Please note that we reserve the right to close this advert early should we receive an overwhelming response. Some of your key responsibilities will include: Working with individuals or small groups of children in collaboration with teaching staff; Proactively supporting students with activities designed to enhance numeracy and literacy; Supporting SEN students in gaining the ability to utilise IT in the classroom; Promoting positive behaviour, raising esteem and encouraging an aspirational culture; Working with SEN students to foster their development as independent learners. We're looking for you if you have: A good standard of education (ideally Maths/English GCSE grade A* to C or equivalent); A commitment to high standards of achievement from students and yourself; Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to act on your own initiative.
