Database Administrator
We’re looking for an experienced Database Administrator to join a leading technology business in the heart of Swindon, helping to support and grow the database estate as they continue their journey to the cloud.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in PostgreSQL or Oracle database technologies, with proven experience in migrating high-performance, mission-critical workloads.

Responsibilities
* Support and maintain a range of relational databases across both on-premise and cloud environments.
* Contribute to the migration and modernisation of legacy systems into cloud-native solutions.
* Ensure databases are designed and managed for performance, reliability, and scalability.
* Implement and monitor robust security and compliance practices.
* Collaborate with engineering and DevOps teams to integrate databases into wider infrastructure and delivery pipelines.
* Provide expertise in troubleshooting, optimisation, and ongoing performance tuning.
* Play a key role in shaping best practices for database design, monitoring, and disaster recovery.
* Hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL or Oracle DBA in production environments.
* Experience migrating workloads from Oracle to PostgreSQL, or vice versa.
* Skilled in query optimisation and performance tuning.
* Strong knowledge of database security principles and compliance frameworks.
* Experience implementing backup and recovery strategies.
* Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc).
* Experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM).
* Experience with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, etc.).
* Knowledge of database replication tools (AWS DMS, GoldenGate).
* Experience integrating databases into CI/CD pipelines and working with IaC frameworks.
Qualifications/Requirements
* Hands-on PostgreSQL or Oracle DBA experience in production environments.
* Proven experience in migrating workloads between Oracle and PostgreSQL (or vice versa).
* Proficiency in database security, backup and recovery strategies, and performance tuning.
* Experience with cloud and on-premise databases, and migration to cloud-native solutions.
* Familiarity with infrastructure automation and AWS services.
* Ability to work with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
In return you’ll be rewarded with a salary between £60k - £65k (DOE) plus a bonus and other generous benefits.
