Job Purpose:
YMCA Fairthorne Group (YMCAFG) is a provider of fully inclusive high quality childcare across Hampshire and IOW. As a charity we are focussed on ensuring we give children under 5 the very best start in life, and are ambitious about our Early Years approach and would like to build on our success and work with partners to deliver high quality Early Years to the children of Hampshire. We operate 6 Early Years settings across the county, and are proud to be early adopters of the Inclusive Classroom Profile tool which supports our high quality classroom delivery.
As Early Years Development Manager, you will be responsible for working with the CEO and Director of Early Years to ensure the Board’s ambition for new YMCA early years settings is realised through supported development and partnership opportunities.
You will leverage the high quality Early Years product that YMCAFG is renowned for across Hampshire and IOW to build relationships with developers and local authorities. Working alongside the YMCA finance team you will build a pipeline of new Early Years settings to fulfil the YMCA’s mission : Under 5’s will have the very best start in life.
Key responsibilities:
* Build and maintain relationships with Developers, Local Authorities and other likely stakeholders eg. parish councils
* Carry out Pre Feasibility and Full Feasibility studies with appropriate support from the Finance team, including preparing reports for presentation to the Board.
* Work with the Finance Director and Chief Executive to put in place any legal requirements to secure premises and agreements
* Work with the ‘Delivery Group’, architects, builders etc to ensure the quality design and build of new early years settings and to achieve appropriate planning and building control consents.
* Design and implement a full schedule of works that will enable projects to be taken from inception to completion and then delivered ready for inward management by the Early Years Quality Team.
Person Specification:
* Substantial experience gained in a similar development role and (ideally) in a similar environment
* Extensive experience of project management and delivery
* Experience of partnership working with demonstrable results
* Experience in budget setting, management, monitoring and interpreting financial information
* An excellent understanding of the Early Years marketplace and high quality Early Years provision
* Strong, effective leadership skills that encourage collaboration and engagement
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* The ability to work in a small, fast paced team
* The ability to identify and manage key stakeholder relationships
* Successful track record in collaborative working internally and externally to the charity
* Passionate, energetic, enthusiastic and inspiring
* Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport and credibility with a wide range of people
* A strong affinity/passion for children Under 5 and giving them the very best start in life
