How will you make an impact in this role?
The International Fraud Risk Management (FRM) organization manages policies, procedures, and systems to control fraudulent use of American Express products and services across Europe, Middle East, and Africa. FRM helps enable profitable business growth by reducing the risk of fraud and maintaining our customers’ confidence in the security of our products.
We use process controls and statistical tools to detect fraud and minimize disruption of legitimate transactions. FRM is also responsible for building infrastructure to manage emerging risks associated with e-commerce and internet services.
The role involves managing the EMEA issuer Card Not Present fraud risk strategy to maximize legitimate spend and reduce fraud losses, as well as managing PSD2-related tasks, regulatory reporting, audits, and developing strategies to adapt to regulatory changes and emerging fraud trends. The position will be based in Brighton or London.
This role requires close collaboration with Decision Science and Fraud Strategy teams to develop and implement strategies to improve fraud controls in the Card Not Present area. It also involves working with FRM product teams, Consumer and Corporate business lines, Control Management, Legal, Compliance, and other cross-functional teams to enable and manage the rollout of new capabilities and strategies, ensuring growth while maintaining appropriate fraud risk controls.
Core responsibilities:
* Collaborate with security teams on compromise and data breach investigations, providing analysis for business teams and law enforcement.
* Partner with control management to ensure fraud policy controls meet regulatory requirements and mitigate non-compliance risks.
* Drive deployment of issuer fraud risk capabilities, including enhanced 3DS SafeKey messages and new data points from vendors or merchants, in collaboration with Decision Science and Digital Experience teams.
* Support validation and consultancy for fraud regulatory reports and enterprise-level Point of Arrival approaches.
* Work with other functional areas and lines of business to respond to regulatory needs impacting Card Not Present/eCommerce sectors, providing fraud risk assessments.
* Collaborate with FRM counterparts in other regions, utilizing best practices and industry knowledge to enhance fraud prevention.
* Support external and internal audit activities related to fraud controls and processes.
This role may require additional background verification checks.
* Proven experience in problem solving and analytics is essential.
* Strong SQL/Python and Microsoft Office skills are required.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey fraud insights and lead fraud strategies.
* Proactive and independent work style with a track record of delivering results.
* Ability to analyze structured and unstructured data, translating it into meaningful solutions and recommendations.
* Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
* Strategic and analytical thinking skills.

* Experience in fraud and fraud analytics is preferred.
