We are working with a historic independent school in York recruiting for a Director of Music. This is a leadership position for an expert musician capable of managing a busy department and maintaining the school’s long-standing musical traditions.
The Role You will lead the Music department, overseeing the academic curriculum and a wide-reaching extracurricular program. The role requires a balance of classroom teaching and the management of peripatetic staff and school ensembles. Key responsibilities include:
* Leading the Music curriculum at KS3, KS4, and A-Level
* Conducting the school’s main orchestra and chapel choir

* Managing the departmental budget and instrument inventory
* Mentoring students through university music scholarship applications
