Overview
Social Worker - Children with Disabilities in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England (MK4). Sanctuary Personnel has a new permanent position for a Social Worker within the Children with Disabilities Team, full time based in Milton Keynes. Salary up to £43,880 per annum.
Responsibilities
* Assess, plan, review and provide support to a child, family or carer with complex family or social care needs, taking account of relevant legal frameworks, policy and guidance.
* Assess family functioning, providing help and support when relationship breakdown threatens the health or wellbeing of children at risk of abuse or neglect.
* Work collaboratively with professionals to help children, young people and families improve and gain control where safety or participation is restricted.
* Carry out assessments or enquiries and plan responses to safeguard a child from abuse, neglect or exploitation, building effective relationships with children, adults and families, including intervention when there may be a need to remove a child.
* Arrange appropriate alternative care in collaboration with children, young people and their parents/carers where parents cannot care for them.
* Make recommendations about whether a case has reached the threshold for statutory intervention.
* Promote autonomy and development for individuals with complex social needs or disabilities.
* Maintain up-to-date case records and participate in planning forums, including Strategy Meetings, Legal Planning meetings, Child Protection Conferences and Statutory Reviews.
* Work with communities, families and individuals to maximise personal strengths, social networks and resources.
* Hold a caseload of appropriate complexity and provide case management, guidance, support and expert advice to social care staff, students and newly qualified social workers as required.
* Contribute to organisational development by engaging in training and development activities and responding to feedback.
Requirements
* A Social Work Qualification or equivalent.
* Understanding of relevant legislation.
* Social Work England registered.
