THE ROLE
As an IT Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our organisation's network infrastructure. This role is based in our Lymedale DC (Newcastle-under-Lyme).

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
* Manage, deploy, and maintain the organisation's network infrastructure, including all voice, data, LAN, and WAN infrastructure, switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points, ensuring they remain available in line with the agreed SLAs.
* Develop and implement cloud networking strategies for public, private, and hybrid cloud environments. Configure and manage virtual networks, subnets, and security groups on cloud platforms e.g., Microsoft Azure.
* Implement and manage network security measures, including Checkpoint and Cisco Firewalls, Cloud Security, Site-to-Site VPNs, and remote access solutions. Maintain security best practices for cloud networking, ensuring data integrity, confidentiality, and availability.
* Provide technical support and guidance to the IT support team. Resolve IT infrastructure-related incidents, service requests, and problems promptly, liaising with third parties as needed.
* Communicate promptly with users regarding the status of their service requests and incidents.
* Undertake IT infrastructure-related problem diagnosis, implementing resolution or prevention measures, including audit, monitoring, capacity management, planning, security, and patching.
* Serve as the technical expert for all network-related activities, making recommendations on future operational enhancements or investments. Participate in capacity planning and network expansion projects to support strategic goals.
* Design, deploy, and maintain scalable network architectures both on-premises and in the cloud.
* Maintain technical documentation for IT infrastructure support.
* Participate in 24/7 on-call and out-of-hours support as part of the Networks team.
* Ensure capacity, availability, security, and service support requirements are considered in all infrastructure changes, meeting service acceptance criteria.
* Apply Asset and Configuration Management principles, processes, and procedures.
* Assist in disaster recovery planning and execution in case of network failures.
WHO YOU ARE
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
* Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCSA, Microsoft Azure Network Engineer, or equivalent.
* Proven experience as an IT Network Engineer or similar role.
* Experience with Cloud networking and Security.
* Deep knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, layer 2 switching, and layer 3 routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP.
* Experience configuring and deploying Cisco hardware (Catalyst and Nexus) in enterprise settings.
* Experience with Cisco ASA firewalls and Checkpoint firewall appliances.
* Experience managing wireless devices and understanding wireless communications.
* Proficiency in network administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting using Cisco systems, including Cisco ISE and DNAC.
* Experience with Meraki SDWAN solutions and dashboards.
* Knowledge of network security best practices and technologies.
* Experience with F5 Load balancers (desirable).
* Understanding of telephone systems, VoIP, and PSTN.
* ITIL qualification (desirable).
