Join to apply for the EPC Project Manager role at National Grid

Great Britain's electricity infrastructure is undergoing an ambitious, exciting and vital transformation. Together with industry, we are creating a cleaner, greener system, one that protects the planet and serves generations to come.

As part of our accelerated program supporting The Great Grid Upgrade, the largest overhaul of the electricity grid in generations, we have an exciting opportunity for an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) Project Manager to join our team to work on either of these projects:

Chesterfield to Willington : Development and delivery of a new 60km 400kV overhead line.

Brinsworth to High Marnham : Development and delivery of three new substations and associated overhead line upgrades.

The EPC Project Manager role is a key role - you'll be at the heart of these works, part of a multi-disciplinary team to design and deliver the project safety, on time and to budget. You will be working closely with a talented team of planners, quantity surveyors, accountants, operational colleagues, and other specialists.

It’s a big ambition – in the next seven years, the UK will need to build five times more transmission infrastructure than it has built in the last 30 years, transforming the nation’s energy network to supply the whole country with more clean, affordable energy. That’s a job anyone can be proud of.

In this role you can enjoy our hybrid working from office, site and home. Chesterfield is the nearest office location and you'll be flexible to travel to the office and sites around Chesterfield approximately 3 days per week.

Key accountabilities

* Develop, sanction, and deliver the project to time, cost and quality.
* Support the Lead Project Managers in the investment process throughout the project life cycle, ensuring governance is maintained throughout.
* Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and role model safe behaviours.
* Enact/Support the role of Client's Delegated Representative and where appropriate, Principal Designer or arrange for the provision of Principal Designer for each project.
* Work with Front End Engineering Design (FEED) support. Monitor and control their activities to provide an optimal compliant solution in a timely manner.
* Support the Senior Project Manager in the engagement of OFGEM to seek appropriate level of funding. Providing information and composing briefing and regulatory documents to support project assessment.
* Provide regular project status reports giving accurate financial forecasting, SHES performance, milestone progress and risk management data.

About you

You'll have had success in leading your own projects and have experience of delivering several infrastructure/construction projects already, you'll also have experience in the following:

* Delivery of complex high value projects safely to time, cost and quality.
* Proven track record of stakeholder and customer engagement.
* Given some of the projects are in the early development phase, experience in project development, seeking Development Consent Order and/or Local Planning to facilitate construction is desirable, but not essential.
* Managing contractors, consultants and other specialist advisors.
* Supply chain management.
* Knowledge of the application of CDM.
* Knowledge of NEC/EPC contracts.
* Knowledge of substations or overhead lines or UK transmission system engineering is advantageous.

What you'll get

* A competitive salary between £54,000 - £65,000 – dependent on capability.
* Established market supplement of £4,500 per annum (paid monthly).
* Job requirement car.
* An annual performance bonus.
* 26 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).
* The option to buy additional or sell holiday days.
* Generous contributory pension scheme - we will double-match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
* Financial support to help cover the cost of professional membership subscriptions, course fees, books, exam fees and time off for study leave - so long as it's relevant to your role.
* Access to flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
* Family care benefits including a back-up care service for when your usual care arrangements fall through (six paid days each year as standard with the option to purchase further days).
* Access to apps that support health, fitness and wellbeing.
