About the role

Our next Kitchen Assistant will undertake the task of supporting Cook/Supervisor with the preparation of meals and to perform domestic duties which ensure the safe production of food relevant to current food and health safety legislation. To also assist the cook in delivery of school meals and to assist with serving.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist with the preparation, cooking and serving of meals, considering any special dietary needs.
2. To assist with the clearing up and cleaning of the kitchen equipment, kitchen area and dining hall.
3. Food preparation: both on site serving and for other schools if required.
4. Ensure all health and safety and food hygiene regulations are maintained within the kitchen environment.
5. Ensuring a good standard of cleanliness is maintained.
6. Ensuring adequate food supplies.

Who we are looking for

All candidates for the role should have the following attributes

7. Experience of producing home cooked food.
8. Ability to be adaptable in a fast-paced extremely environment.
9. Flexibility to manage short notice change calmly.
10. Excellent team player.
11. Ability to work on own initiative.
12. Good standard of education, catering experience.

*Driving licence required as this role may require working across both of our Parkside House School sites, located in Backworth and Ashington.

Parkside House School is an Independent Special School. Our school aims to provide a high-quality education package to pupils who have difficulties in relating to education or others within a mainstream setting.

The school is registered to accommodate 35 pupils from 10 – 18 years; we specialise in teaching pupils with Emotional, Social and Behavioural needs, and with other associated learning and cognitive difficulties.

The aim of the site is to provide enough support to unlock each pupil’s potential so they can live fulfilling and productive lives. We provide young people with as much freedom as possible in a safe and supervised environment.
