Job Title: Engineering Operative
Acorn by Synergie is recruiting an Engineering Operative who has operated a milling machine in the food industry. You'll be working with rubber or plastic.
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday 8am-16.30pm, Friday finish at 1pm.
Salary:
£25,000 per annum.
Responsibilities:
1. Dimensional and visual inspection of own output
2. Multi skilled to cover various production operations:
1. Blank preparation
2. Milling of elastomer
3. Cutting/stamping blanks to size & weight controls
4. Setting & operation of Barwell preform cutter
5. Metal & PTFE preparation
6. Masking & shot blasting of metals
7. Degreasing metals & PTFE's
8. Mixing of bonding agents, handling of solvents
9. Application of bonding agent to metal & PTFE's
10. Metal component reclaim
11. Moulding:
1. Set-up of mould & press
2. Operating multiple moulding presses (compression & transfer)
3. Application of mould release
4. Initial trimming of excess flash
12. RTV Silicone casting
13. Mixing of two-part silicone, including degassing
14. Cleaning/preparation of moulds
15. Pouring material & degassing
16. Demoulding
17. Post cure
18. Loading/unloading of oven
19. Trimming
20. Setting and operating kniffing machines, cutting sealing lips and polishing/flash removal
21. Setting and operating on manual lathe for the cutting of large rim seals
22. Setting and operating manual lathe for the trimming of CV boots
23. Finishing
24. Mixing hypalon sealant and spraying seal OD
25. Hand assembly operations i.e. crimping PTFE, multiple seal components
26. Grease application
27. Fitting of garter springs which could involve modification of spring
28. Laser marking
29. Correct manual handling of tools and moulds
30. Carry out all operations as outlined in production paperwork & SOP's
31. Flexible, to be transferred to other areas of production
3. Keep work area(s) in compliance with company housekeeping standards
Education and Experience:
Experience in a Rubber manufacturing environment is desirable.
Competences:
* Good dexterity to handle small components whilst wearing gloves
* Quality conscious with strong attention to detail
* Understanding the need for quality and its impact on business
* Good understanding of foreign object defects, cause, and rectification
* Ability to understand and complete paperwork
* Maintain standards as set by Company
Geography and Travel Requirements:
This position is based at TSS Bridgwater. The role may include occasional travel for training or other site visits. Must have proof of right to work in the UK.
