A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an Administrator within the Diabetes & Endocrinology Service, working primarily for the Diabetic Foot Team
As the Administrator for the Diabetic Foot Team, you will be effectively managing day-to-day operational duties whilst ensuring the delivery of effective and efficient administrative processes associated with the service.
Together with the Service Manager and Clinical Leads the post holder will aid in developing and assisting with the implementation of both short- and long-term business and transformation plans to meet local, regional, and national agendas.
The ideal candidate should have experience with audio typing, excellent organizational skills, and EMIS Web working knowledge
Main duties of the job
* In conjunction with the Administration Manager and Extended Scope Podiatrists, develop and implement administrative processes along the patient pathway to ensure that the patient’s journey is managed smoothly and following agreed timescales and targets.
* Work with NHS databases mainly including EMIS and EPR to input, recall, and examine patient information providing regular reports promptly.
* Type and process correspondence, by way of audio typing, reports, and other documents as requested daily with packages to include Microsoft Office i.e. Word, Excel Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint
* Ensure that patient triage outcomes are recorded and acted on in line with operational procedure.
* Set up and populate appropriate out-patient clinics managing clinic capacity in liaison with the service leads.
* Receive and process all incoming correspondence, paper and electronic, ensuring that it reaches the appropriate place on time.

Post holders are expected to work flexibly within their pay band. They should only be expected to carry out activities for which they are competent. Alternatively, they may carry out additional duties if they are receiving support or training to obtain the recognized level of competence.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Maintain an accurate and up to date filing system, ensuring accuracy of patient records.
* Process confidential patient sensitive documentation to and from patients, other healthcare professionals and external agencies.
* Deal with patient requests, concerns and queries promptly and escalate clinical concerns to the appropriate team member. Record and monitor telephone queries on the appropriate documentation and provide activity information as requested
* Assist the team, the Operational Administrator, and Service Managers to collate and drill down complex activity data for local and national targets (NDFA & National Audits)
* Assist the diabetes administration team as and when needed in supporting the overall needs of the Diabetes/Endocrinology Service.

Criteria for the Band 3 Role
* GCSE English at grade 4 or above or equivalent
* RSA 2 Typing or equivalent standard – advanced keyboard skills
* Experience of administration in an office-based environment
* Working on own initiative
* Use of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint along with other software packages
* Ability to produce accurately typed and photocopied documents efficiently and to high standard
* Ability to work independently and under pressure, prioritising work to meet deadlines
* Ability to work as part of a team, communicate well with managers, colleagues and the general public particularly in respect of sensitive issues
