The Marcomms team is responsible for advancing UKTV’s growth and popularity, building its brands, driving audience growth and enhancing our reputation. The wider Marketing & Communications department is comprised of 5 teams – Marketing, Creative Services, Social & Online, Media Planning and Consumer Communications. The Marketing team are the primary brand guardians in the business, leading all marcomms strategy, brand positioning and devising and implementing effective, efficient and innovative marketing strategies and plans for UKTV’s flagship programmes and portfolio of brands across VOD, Fast and Linear TV channels. With multiple brands and show launches, the Marcomms team juggle the development & delivery of numerous campaigns, leveraging c.£60m of the network’s own airtime as well as other owned, earned and paid media.
Purpose of the role
A senior leader within the Marcomms Leadership Team, acting as a strategic deputy to the CMO when required and driving enterprise‑wide marketing transformation. This role leads the evolution of UKTV’s marketing function, translating business objectives into measurable outcomes, shaping company‑wide strategy and influencing executive decision‑making. Constantly curious, this person drives transformation, assessing industry, technology and function changes, translating this into an evolved strategy for the business and development for their team. A champion of high‑performance culture, this leader inspires and develops their talent while overseeing resource allocation and budgetary planning to maximise ROI and exceed company targets.
Experience & Knowledge
* Extensive experience in creating & implementing a long‑term vision & strategy, linked to business goals
* Extensive experience of leading a high‑performing department/team, providing them with clear strategic vision and setting stretching and motivating goals which deliver against company objectives
* Proven expertise in scaling B2C companies in fast‑growing digital industries
* Experience of driving an audience‑centric marketing approach, built on use of data and analytics
* Demonstrated ability to link marketing activity to financial outcomes
* Proven expertise at stakeholder management and influence across both peers and senior board level, driving business‑wide initiatives
* Experience of creating enhanced Customer Engagement and Performance Marketing Programmes, which drive customer acquisition, retention and lifetime value, striking a balance between short & long term
* In depth experience of applying research and data insights to develop strategy to maximise ROI
* Demonstrable track record of driving creative excellence and raising the bar on creative standards
* Experience in leading cross‑functional teams
* Experience leading organisational change within marketing functions, including upskilling teams, driving innovation & transformation and evolving structures
* Track record of horizon scanning and adapting marketing strategy to emerging trends and technologies, including AI
* Deep understanding of the media, entertainment, or streaming landscape or a similarly fast‑evolving consumer sector

Key outputs and responsibilities of the role

* Driving transformation across the marketing ecosystem, working with the CMO to embed AI/tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the department
* Deputising for the CMO in executive forums and external event
* Lead the team in the strategic and creative development of all UKTV brands
* Drive creative excellence, create an environment for creative bravery, leading the team in developing award‑winning, innovative campaigns
* Work with the Marketing Leadership Team to deliver cross‑functional solutions
* Work closely with the data and insight teams to ensure strategy is data driven and audience led to maximise ROI and scale high‑impact initiatives
* Align marketing efforts with key stakeholders from multi‑discipline teams to ensure seamless execution of initiatives
* Ensure the appropriate marketing resources, budgets, processes and systems are in place to efficiently & effectively deliver against business objectives and enable robust tracking, measurement & evaluation
* Represent UKTV at industry events, forums, and with external partners to elevate brand reputation and thought leadership, particularly around digital transformation, AI and creative excellence
* Own marketing commercial performance metrics across customer lifecycle
* Marketing governance and risk mitigation
* Champion a high‑performance culture, embedding future‑ready capabilities and succession planning
* Identify future capability needs (e.g. AI, data, automation) and embed them into team culture and operations
