Job Reference: JH-CD-Red Lodge2 Job Title: Support Worker Responsible to: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer (Mum) Hours: 6 hours per week (school holidays only) Hourly Rate of Pay: £12.21 Based at: Employer's own home in Red Lodge, Suffolk and out in the local community. Job Purpose The purpose of the job is to support and be a friendly companion to a 7 year old boy with severe autism, severe food aversion and sensory processing disorder. The child lives at home with his family. The child also has a PEG feed.The purpose is to build a trusting, professional relationship with the child and to support his with all his needs. The child loves outdoor activities, loves running and jumping and also likes a cuddle. Main duties: To support with: * Personal care e.g. washing, dressing and changing nappies. * Constant supervision is required at all times. * Support with all safety aspects, the child has no awareness road safety / safety awareness. * To be a social friendly companion to the child. * To support with sensory play, music, cuddling, jumping etc. * Support and attend days out to trampoline parks, swimming, for example. * Very active little boy so needs to have support at all times. * The little boy has a PEG tube, so need to be comfortable or have experience with using a PEG. * To build a supportive relationship and take part in activities which the child enjoys. * Supervising the child at meal times. * To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required. Personal Specification * Flexible in the hours and times that you can work. * Experience with caring for children is essential and experience with autism. * Have a good sense of humour and enjoy a friendly joke. * You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety. * Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills. * You should have knowledge and understanding of risks. * Be patient and supportive.
