We are looking for a passionate and experienced emergency nurse to join our team as a Clinical Educator, supporting both Preston and Chorley Emergency Departments.
In this role, you will:
1. Lead on the education and development of nursing and healthcare assistant staff, ensuring high standards of patient care through effective training and support.
2. Provide clinical leadership and mentorship, working alongside staff in the clinical setting to guide practice, promote safety, and support professional growth.
3. Coordinate and monitor compliance with mandatory training requirements, maintaining accurate records in line with Trust policy.
4. Support new starters and preceptorship programmes, ensuring newly qualified staff are well-supported and confident in their roles.
5. Contribute to clinical governance through audits, reports, and quality improvement initiatives.
6. Promote a culture of continuous learning, encouraging reflective practice and professional development across the team.

Main duties of the job
As a Band 7 Clinical Educator in the Emergency Department, you will:
11. Be part of an integrated education team, delivering in-house training within the clinical environment.
12. Provide cascade training to ensure consistent knowledge transfer across the workforce.
13. Deliver structured teaching sessions on key clinical topics, including: Basic Life Support (BLS) Aseptic Non-Touch Technique (ANTT) Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Manchester Triage System Falls prevention and pressure ulcer care Nursing risk assessments Acute medical conditions Medication safety
14. Work closely with newly qualified and internally transferred nurses, providing up-to-date clinical training and support.
15. Maintain accurate departmental records of training compliance in line with Trust policy.
16. Contribute to audits and support the appraisal process.
17. Assist in the recruitment, induction, and training of new staff members.
18. Support mentor updates and provide clinical supervision to staff.
19. Deliver MDLO (Medical Devices Liaison Officer) training and support simulation-based education (SIM training).
20. Participate in staff inductions and contribute to performance management processes.
21. Promote safe medication practices and support medicine safety initiatives.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
As a Clinical Educator, you will play a key role in supporting the development of clinical competence across a wide range of healthcare professionals, in line with the Trust’s educational strategies and priorities.
Your responsibilities will include:
22. Supporting the development of clinical skills and competence within the workplace, ensuring alignment with directorate and Trust-wide education strategies.
23. Facilitating multi-professional learning opportunities within the clinical environment to promote collaborative practice and shared learning.
24. Ensuring the timely delivery of the Trust’s training, education, and development priorities.
25. Planning, delivering, and evaluating care that meets the personalised health and wellbeing needs of patients, in accordance with the Trust’s Values and the Nursing & Midwifery Professional Framework.
26. Acting as a strong role model, providing clinical supervision, mentorship, and professional development support to staff and students.
27. Working clinical shifts within the Emergency Department to support staff development, assess competencies, and promote safe, effective care.
28. Maintaining a safe, clean, and organised clinical environment to support high standards of care and productivity.
29. Supporting the leadership team in fostering a positive, open culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation, learning, and staff engagement.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
30. Registered Nurse
31. Mentoring qualification.
32. ALS/eALS.
33. Evidence of continuing professional development.
34. Previous teaching experience (or willingness to complete within 24 months).
35. 5 years experience working in acute medicine
