Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for a youth support worker to join this supportive alternative school in London. This is a full time, long-term role starting in September 2025 for the full academic year and upon review there will be an opportunity to go permanent. The School: The school supports students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs who have been permanently excluded, allocated a place through SEN consultation or via the Securing Education Board on a short-term placement. A high number of pupils here also have an additional diagnosis of autism and/or ADHD. Class sizes are therefore smaller with up to six pupils per class and there is a high staff-to-pupil ratio so that children are given the correct support when needed across the school day. As a youth support mentor you will be responsible for the below: Managing behaviour and following the schools behaviour policy Supporting students in class, small groups and on a 1:1 basis Encouraging and promoting student engagement in learning activities Contributing to support plans and strategies to meet the needs of each student Collaborating with staff, parents/carers, and outside agencies Monitoring and recording student progress and achievements To join us and be successful in this role you will need: Previous experience working with children who have SEMH needs Strong behaviour management skills Patience and resilience An Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible Legal right to work in the UK Tradewind are renowned for offering top rates of pay, more CPD than any other agency, great referral bonus and termly networking & social events.
