CNC Machine Shop ApprenticeYour OpportunityWere currently looking for a CNC Machine Shop Apprentice to join our engineering team who play a crucial role in our journey towards being the world leader in a global industry racing towards sustainable food packaging solution. In this position, you will help provide expansion and growth to the machine shop while undertaking day release to a suitable college. You will report to Chargehand Machinst and be part of the local engineering team.Where youll beYou will be located at our site in Dollingstown, Lurgan which is approximately 30 minutes travelling time from Belfast.What youll be doingKey responsibilities will be wide ranging and will include the following:Understand techniques involved in the machining processes such as speeds and feeds, calculating angles/tapers, material removalUnderstand the practical and theoretical uses of the machines used, and their applicationsUnderstand the work-holding devices, cutting tools, and setting up procedures, in adequate depth to provide a sound basis for carrying out the activities, correcting faults and ensuring the work output is to the required specificationLearn to read engineering drawingsLearn to set and operate CNC machines (including setting the cutting speeds and choosing the correct tooling)Learn to program CNC machines using different controlsLearn to carry out changes to programmesLearn to problem solve machine issuesLearn about housekeeping and daily maintenance checks in the work areaEnsure all working practices and procedures are followed at all timesUnderstand and complete all work-related documentation accurately and on timeUndertake any other duties in line with capabilitiesMaintenance and safe working practices and use of PPEUnderstand the importance of calibration.Other duties as requiredWhat youll bring to the roleHave achieved 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above to include Maths, English and at least one science-related subjectComputer literacy with the experience of using Microsoft Word and Excel packagesWhilst not essential, it would be advantageous to be able to demonstrate a mechanical mind and an interest in engineering through work experience, hobbies, project work etcWhat we offer in returnA 4-year apprenticeship during which time you will have the opportunity to learn a combination of engineering skills complemented by on-the-job training on real, live projects.Recognised qualifications and a rewarding career path working alongside expert engineers and technicians on a daily basis.An opportunity to earn a salary whilst gaining practical experienceDevelopment salary increases through your apprenticeship on successful completion at each stage.Go ahead, apply today!If this sounds like a good fit, then wed love to hear from you.
