Job Overview
We are recruiting for a Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant to join our team. The role involves supporting the busy Dispensary team, handling dispensing duties, pharmacy reception, and procurement tasks.
Responsibilities
* Undertake basic dispensing duties under the direction of the Dispensary Manager or Pharmacist in charge.
* Put away stock, empty green bags, fill up ancillary items for dispensing and maintain good housekeeping in the dispensary.
* Receive prescriptions, handle payment and verify relevant exemption forms at the counter and assist in selling over‑the‑counter medicines in accordance with legal requirements.
* Answer the telephone, deal with enquiries and requests appropriately, referring calls and taking messages while ensuring strict confidentiality.
* Undertake any other tasks requested by the dispensary manager, following strict SOPs.
* Liaise with Pharmacy procurement support for the efficient and timely processing of invoice and credit note transactions within the pharmacy stock control systems to facilitate the prompt payment of suppliers.
Shift pattern
7.5‑hour shifts between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., seven days a week. Flexibility with shift patterns may be required.
Qualifications
* Applicants must have 5 GCSEs (Grade C (4‑9) and above or equivalent), including English, Maths and Science.
* Proficient computer skills are essential.
* Dispensing experience is desirable; experience in healthcare or customer‑service roles will also be considered.
* Passion for quality care, strong teamwork, and a keen desire to learn.
* Excellent practical problem‑solving and prioritisation skills, ability to deal with all types of people.
* Excellent communication, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
