We are seeking a Materials Manager to join us on the Puma project based in Hull.
The PUMA project involves Mitsubishi Chemicals UK building a new production plant adjacent to their existing plant on Saltend Chemicals Park in Hull.
As the Materials Manager, you will be responsible for the supply and storage of materials supporting the project's construction activities, managing logistical movements between off-site storage and the construction site in line with the schedule.
This role is site-based in the PUMA project PTW office, with site visits to scope out planned work.
This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of a large-scale mechanical project by ensuring timely material supply.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Leading and overseeing a team responsible for managing and distributing materials on and off site.
2. Liaising with the client team to ensure the timely delivery of free issue materials according to the project schedule.
3. Serving as the primary site/warehouse interface for materials management.
4. Managing daily materials control to meet site objectives and comply with project procedures.
5. Handling manifests, requisitions, repairs, rentals, and stockholding.
6. Identifying database issues and coordinating with the support team, including purchasing and warehousing.
7. Promoting adherence to client inventory processes among site personnel.
8. Ensuring facilities are suitable for hazardous material storage, with environmental protection measures in place.
9. Distributing materials from the warehouse to the site per construction requirements.
10. Collaborating with site supervision for proper material placement.
11. Maintaining and updating the temporary equipment register per site procedures.
12. Demonstrating commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
13. Applying relevant policies and safety management systems to logistics activities.
14. Participating in planning meetings to understand material distribution priorities.
15. Conducting site inspections to ensure correct material utilization and storage.
Skills and qualifications:
* Strong communication skills.
* Good interpersonal skills for working within a large project team.
* Proficiency in IT tools, especially MS Office.
* Self-motivated with the ability to meet client deadlines.
