About the RoleWe are seeking a committed and resilient Residential Youth Support Worker to join a dedicated team within a childrens residential home in East Sussex.Our home provides high-quality, nurturing care for children and young people aged 719 who have experienced significant trauma and are unable to live in foster care settings. Some young people may also have learning disabilities or additional complex needs. You will play a vital role in creating a safe, stable, and supportive environment where young people can heal, develop independence, and achieve their potential.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide high-quality day-to-day care and emotional support to children and young peopleSafeguard and promote the welfare of all residentsSupport young people with emotional, behavioural, and psychological challengesBuild positive relationships with young people, families, and professionalsContribute to care planning, risk assessments, and reviewsMaintain accurate records, reports, and documentationSupport young people in developing life skills and independencePlan and participate in activities and community engagementAdminister and record medication safely (following training)Lead shifts when required and support junior or relief staffWork flexibly on a rota, including sleep-in dutiesRequirementsExperience working with children and young people (residential care, education, youth work, or similar)NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent desirableUnderstanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilitiesAbility to support young people with emotional, behavioural, and psychological needsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to build positive, professional relationships with young people, families, and external agenciesEmotional resilience and ability to manage challenging behaviour calmlyWillingness to engage in therapeutic and trauma-informed approachesWe aim to provide a home where every child feels safe, valued, and supported to thrive.
