Mobile M&E Engineer - RFCA
Join VIVO Defence Services, a joint venture between Serco and EQUANS, as a Mobile Mechanical & Electrical Engineer. Location: Yorkshire, United Kingdom. The role is full‑time and permanent.
About the role
As a Mobile M&E Engineer you will operate autonomously across multiple Defence estate sites from the Scottish border to Lincolnshire, implementing and administering the MOD safe system of work. You will act as an Appointed Person for technical disciplines including electrical, HVAC and water systems, and be responsible for the practical implementation of JSP‑375, oversight of compliance with MOD safety standards, and competency assessment of Skilled Persons.
Responsibilities
* Issue work permits, develop risk assessments, method statements and safety programmes.
* Provide robust advice and support to internal teams, supply chain partners, Defence Infrastructure Organisation representatives and end users.
* Support technical planning, project delivery and billable works teams to ensure new installations and maintenance meet required standards.
* Identify equipment defects, contribute to risk meetings, review site risk registers and drive corrective actions.
* Maintain close relationships with site teams, senior engineers and operational stakeholders to drive safe working practices and continuous improvement.
* Attend stakeholder meetings, advise management on deficiencies and contribute to process improvements and carbon reduction initiatives.
* Provide coaching and supervision to Skilled Persons, including training and managing competency‑related actions.
Qualifications & Experience
• Fully qualified Electrical Engineer, ideally holding AP tickets in Electrical or Mechanical (pre‑qualification possible).
• Significant practical experience with Safe Systems of Work and with the management and operational delivery of JSP‑375.
• Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making and independent work skills across multiple sites.
• Experience supervising site operations, resource management and staff leadership.
• Full driving licence, willingness to travel, participate in on‑call rota duties and undertake overtime.
