As part of continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Trust Advisor to join a distinguished legal team. Role Overview The successful candidate will play a key role in advising on trust structures, taxation, compliance, and long-term wealth planning. This role involves both technical legal work and client relationship management, requiring sound judgment, precision, and professionalism. Key Responsibilities Trust and Tax Advisory Provide expert advice on the formation, management, and winding up of trusts. Guide clients on inheritance tax (IHT), capital gains tax (CGT), and income tax consequences of trust arrangements. Support estate planning and wealth protection strategies. Trust Drafting & Structuring Draft trust deeds, letters of wishes, and related legal documentation. Review existing trust arrangements to ensure tax efficiency and legal compliance. Trust Administration Prepare and review annual trust accounts and financial summaries. Coordinate distributions and maintain accurate trustee records. Engage with accountants, financial advisors, and investment managers. HMRC Compliance & Reporting Manage the HMRC Trust Registration Service (TRS) and ensure timely submissions. Complete and file trust tax returns, liaising with HMRC where necessary. Monitor legislative changes affecting trusts and update internal processes accordingly. Qualifications & Experience STEP qualification or progression towards STEP is highly desirable. A minimum of 3 years experience in a trust or private client advisory role within legal, financial, or tax services. Strong understanding of UK trust law and personal taxation. Proven experience handling discretionary, life interest, and complex family trusts Key Skills Strong drafting and communication skills.
