We are currently looking for an Educational Psychologist to join our team. This full-time permanent post is available from 1st September 2025. We welcome applications from qualified Educational Psychologists who are registered with the Health & Care Professions Council, as well as those from Trainee Educational Psychologists who are due to qualify.
Overview
You will be part of a friendly, lively and innovative team of School Aged and Early Years Educational Psychologists who are committed to assisting the LA in achieving early intervention, increased inclusion and raising educational standards. The Educational Psychology Service is highly regarded in annual surveys and aligns with strategic priorities to support early intervention, multi-agency work, parental support, school improvement and learning communities.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to the LA in a strategic role by supporting the Principal Educational Psychologist to ensure the Service contributes to the Corporate Aims and values of Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council.
* Help the LA fulfil its statutory duties in relation to the Additional Learning Needs Code for Wales (2021) and ALNET Act (2018).
* Provide direct support to schools, children/young people, and families through a generic caseload.
* Promote early identification and intervention.
* Promote inclusion, support school improvement and develop school capacity.
* Work collaboratively with other agencies and partners, both statutory and non-statutory, to ensure the best outcomes for all.
* Develop a specialism and expertise alongside your generic role.
* Participate in a wider range of work which may include critical incident response, mediation, conciliation and supervision of Educational Psychologists in training.
Experience and Qualifications
* You will have experience of working and liaising with other agencies and with a diversity of client groups.
* You will have experience of working with school-aged children and young people.
* You will have experience in organising workshops and providing training to others.
* Ideally you will have: Qualified as an Educational Psychologist and be eligible for chartered status with the British Psychological Society.
* Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council as an Educational Psychologist.
