Help Keep Our Systems Running Smoothly - And Make Them Even Better
We’re looking for a proactive and technically skilled Systems & Application Support Engineer to join our internal IT team. In this hands-on role, you’ll support, maintain, and improve the systems our teams rely on every day, acting as a vital bridge between developers and end-users.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety: you’ll get involved in everything from infrastructure and cloud administration to system testing, user support, and process improvement.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Keeping our internal systems, networks, and cloud/virtual environments running smoothly
* Working closely with developers to support and enhance internal business platforms
* Supporting around 200 users with 2nd/3rd line technical issues
* Managing and optimising our Microsoft 365 and Azure environments (including AD, Intune, SharePoint, and Exchange)
* Gathering user feedback to improve system usability and ensure smooth rollouts
* Writing clear documentation for systems, policies, and procedures
* Delivering training and user support across teams, especially on new tools or security protocols
* Running regular system audits, applying updates, and performing preventative maintenance
* Identifying new tools and ideas to help reduce admin time for our site-based teams
What We’re Looking For
* At least 3 years of experience in IT support or system administration
* Strong knowledge of both Windows and Linux systems (Red Hat-based preferred)
* Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure (AD, Intune, Exchange, SharePoint)
* Good understanding of networking and security (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs)
* Excellent communication skills, you can explain technical stuff in plain language
* A user-focused, solution-driven mindset
* Ability to document processes and train non-technical colleagues
* Comfortable working across teams, especially with developers and operational staff
* Bonus: experience with Docker and CI/CD tools like Jenkins
Why join PiLON?
* 23 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, increasing with the length of service
* Up to £2,000 referral bonus through our employee scheme
* Discounts and savings via our benefits portal
* Friendly, collaborative workplace with snacks, drinks, and regular socials
* Access to trained Mental Health first-aiders
* Annual training budget to support your growth and professional development
