University Hospital Monklands
Locum Consultant: Medicine for Older Adults with an interest in Stroke Medicine
NHS Lanarkshire - University Hospital Monklands - Fixed Term 12 Months
University Hospital Monklands (UHM) is looking for a Locum Consultant, with an interest in Stroke Medicine, to join its Medicine for Older Adults team for a period of 12 months. This post provides an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated group of Consultants and wider multi-disciplinary team, who deliver all aspects of stroke care.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in hyper acute stroke care, including participation in the hyper acute stroke rota, as well as assessment and rehabilitation across 19 integrated stroke beds. The post holder will be well supported by a stroke specific multidisciplinary team and three stroke Consultants, and will be involved with TIA clinics, with dedicated neuro and vascular imaging slots.
The post holder will be required to rotate to University Hospital Wishaw (UHW) on a 1:5 monthly basis while the stroke redesign program is being progressed. All services at UHW mirror those at UHM.
The post is offered as a full-time post on a 10 PA basis but applications will be considered from those wishing to work less than full-time.
The wider Medicine for Older Adults department provides services across four inpatient wards at UHM and intermediate care facilities at three sites across Lanarkshire, including outpatients, stroke, frailty assessment, movement disorder, falls and orthogeriatrics, and hospital at home. The team work in tandem with General Medicine colleagues to provide daily input to medical receiving for frail older adults within our dedicated 24 bed Frailty Receiving Unit.
This is an excellent opportunity where you will be able to contribute to ongoing service development, particularly as NHSL move towards the delivery of the Monklands Replacement Project building Scotlands First Digital hospital on a new site within North Lanarkshire making now an exciting time to join the team.
We are committed to providing an enjoyable and rewarding working experience at UHM and encourage informal enquiries about the post. Wed also be delighted to show you our current facilities, the progress weve made in improving care for frail patients and tell you more about the position on offer.
NHS Lanarkshire are happy to consider requests for this publication to be in another accessible format i.e. large print, braille, etc.
