Support Worker – Birstall, LE4
Salary: £12.21 per hour
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Are you caring, patient, and looking for a role where you can truly make a difference? Social Care & Education is currently recruiting a dedicated Support Worker to provide 2:1 care for an individual with autism and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in supported living who is passionate about person-centred care and supporting individuals with complex needs.
What You’ll Do:
Support the service user with daily routines both inside and outside of the home
Promote independence, while respecting dignity and choice
Plan and participate in outings and activities such as gym visits, museum visits, day trips, and cultural events
Manage triggers proactively using empathy and a calm, patient approach
Adhere to detailed care plans and provide comprehensive handovers to family members
Work collaboratively as part of a team to provide effective person-centred care
Support weekend trips, including overnight stays (accommodation provided)
What We’re Looking For:
At least 6 months’ experience in a supported living or care setting
Confidence in supporting individuals with autism and challenging behaviours
A full clean UK manual driving licence (essential)
Enhanced DBS on the update service (preferred)
Up-to-date training in safeguarding, managing challenging behaviour, moving and handling, and basic care
