Lecturer in Motor Vehicle
Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post‑16 education provider in Newham. With campuses in East Ham, Stratford, Plaistow, and the London City Institute of Technology (LCIoT) in Canning Town, we serve over 11,000 students across a range of pathways – including 16‑18 study, adult education, apprenticeships, and higher education.
The Role
Newham College is seeking an exceptional Lecturer in Motor Vehicle to deliver engaging and high‑quality teaching for Maintenance and Repair courses at Levels 1 to 3, accredited by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI). The role involves teaching core motor vehicle skills and introducing electric and hybrid vehicle units as part of the curriculum. You will be part of a forward‑thinking team, working within our workshops and classrooms to provide students with practical, industry‑relevant learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver high‑quality teaching, learning, and assessment for courses in line with college standards. Develop and implement course materials, schemes of learning, and assessments.
* Support students' progress by offering regular one‑on‑one sessions and ensuring they meet academic and behavioral expectations.
* Contribute to the college's quality assurance process and attend course team meetings.
* Support students with their progression routes, including career guidance and work placements.
* Maintain up‑to‑date records and reports on student attendance, assessments, and progress.
Ideal Candidate
* Strong background in the motor vehicle industry and teaching experience.
* Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, DET, or Cert Ed).
* Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
* Knowledge of current industry trends, standards, and electric/hybrid vehicle technologies.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to inspire and support students to succeed.
