A vacancy at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. We have a really exciting opportunity for a Breast Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our well‑established Oncology Breast Cancer Service.
Qualifications and experience

Key responsibilities
* Establish and provide a specialist service for the care and ongoing management of patients diagnosed with breast cancer undergoing cancer treatment.
* Participate in the provision of high-quality care from diagnosis, through treatment and during follow-up.
* Make informed decisions within your own area and scope of professional practice to ensure agreed standards and targets are met.
* Develop and implement opportunities for advancing clinical practice and ensure collaborative working relationships, incorporating expert clinical practice, leadership, consultation and education.
* Provide emotional support to patients, their families and staff during difficult situations such as breaking bad news or following an unexpected event.
* Be an active member of the appropriate site-specific MDT, utilising excellent communication skills, enabling maintenance of a high-quality service and ensuring timely management and resolution of unexpected events and situations.
* Demonstrate a high level of clinical, technical and research skills through breadth and depth of knowledge.
* Support staff, the Oncology Breast Cancer Service and policy development within the specialty.
* Develop nurse-led clinics and undertake highly specialised technical and/or practical skills, including advanced health assessments and non-medical prescribing in relation to SACT to ensure optimum patient management.
* Ensure that the patients holistic needs are considered in the decision-making process.
* Act as a resource for staff, advising on national, local and Trust policy and procedures/guidelines and ensuring that clinical governance is embedded in practice.
* Identify and assess complex clinical and non-clinical issues, implement resolutions and monitor/audit outcomes.
* Provide education and training provision for identified staff groups within defined areas and ensure that evidence-based care is embedded into practice.
* Utilise and ensure that others utilise IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce and resource data.
* Regularly manage expected and unexpected clinical events requiring high but unpredictable levels of physical effort according to patient dependency/clinical need.
* Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.
Other requirements
* The post will be based at the University Hospitals site; there may be travel to the site of Rugby St Cross for outpatient clinics.
* Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
