Proposed Salary Range : £25,300-£30,400 depending on skills, knowledge and experience. This range reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Purpose of The Role BBC News Northern Ireland delivers breaking news, analysis, features and debate across all platforms for local audiences and beyond. Behind the scenes, our Belfast and Foyle newsrooms are supported by a dedicated scheduling team who manage staff rotas, leave, contributor payments and day‑to‑day operational workflow. Their work is essential to the smooth running of our news operation.
We're looking for someone who enjoys working with others, thrives on being organised and can stay on top of fast‑moving workloads. As a Resource Scheduler, you'll play a key role in allocating staff and resources, working with complex business systems and supporting teams across a 24/7 news environment.
Working within a central scheduling team you'll be responsible for managing daily and forward‑planning rotas across a wide range of teams. This role is ideal for someone who is calm under pressure, comfortable reacting to last minute changes to ensure the right people are in the right place at the right time.

Your Responsibilities and Impact
Manage day to day and forward planning staff schedules across multiple teams, ensuring the business is resourced with the right skills and experience.
Act as a key point of contact for scheduling queries and requests teams and stakeholders.
Adhere to BBC Terms & Conditions and HR policies in all scheduling activities.
Maintain accurate administration and documentation
Respond to on‑the‑day changes, adapting quickly
Support contingency planning where required, ensuring programming priorities are met.
Your Skills and Experience
Excellent organisation skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Experience working with new systems or workflow tools, and confidence in following established business processes accurately.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and professionally.
A calm and resilient approach, with the ability to work under pressure and find solutions quickly.
The ability to work independently and make pragmatic decisions when needed.
Flexibility to work in a fast paced environment, adapting to short notice changes.
Experience using WorkPlace or similar systems (desirable).
