South Central Fleet Services (SCFS) is seeking a highly skilled Compliance & Governance Officer to help ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of our ambulance fleet and workshop environments. This is a key role supporting the continued safety and reliability of critical emergency service vehicles.
About the Role
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring our fleet operations meet all statutory, regulatory, and internal standards. Working across workshops, operational centres, and vehicle resource hubs, you will lead compliance audits, oversee quality control of vehicles and maintenance activities, and conduct detailed engineering investigations when major component failures occur.
Main duties of the job
* Ensuring full compliance with DVSA, Road Traffic Acts, vehicle construction/use regulations and HSE guidance
* Conducting quality control inspections and vehicle examinations
* Leading engineering investigations into major component failures and producing technical reports
* Completing audits across fleet workshops, OSS operations, and resource centres
* Developing and maintaining policies, procedures, risk assessments, and safety systems
* Supporting the organisation through external audits and regulatory inspections
* Promoting a strong culture of health, safety, and governance across all fleet operations
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical engineering knowledge, fleet compliance experience, and an eye for detail in governance, audit, and safety management.
