Finance Assistant Fairlie House, Erdington, Birmingham £28,068.34 per annum 37.5 hours per week Permanent Closing date: 03/02/2026 About the role The purpose of the role is to maintain key financial support across Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, Cashbook Management, and Rent Income Allocations. You will maintain strong financial controls alongside Finance Colleagues and help deliver financial resources across the team What you’ll be doing Assist in delivering accounting functions in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit Control, Rent Income and Bank and any other adhoc duties Maintaining robust financial processes, ensuring a strong audit trail for all transactions Process transactions within agreed time scales Working to be flexible to meet all deadlines Providing cover during other colleague absence where necessary Working with and creating a culture of delivery and process improvement Ensure accuracy in processing of transactional data Ensure good quality process notes for all processes Assist in year-end audit work. Responsible for working within appropriate policies in areas of responsibility, in line with current legislation and best practice Ensure efficient and effective filing and information systems To work within agreed set Service Level Agreements Contribute to the continual improvement and efficiency, within Finance and the business Deal with queries effectively, liaising with outside agencies and colleagues Who we’re looking for? Experience of working in finance preferably in Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger Experience of working with finance systems. Working knowledge of maintaining financial controls and adhering to procurement policies and procedures Understand double entry to ensure transactions are posted correctly across multiple systems Good knowledge of Excel and other MS packages Exceptional organisation and communication skills including verbal, non-verbal and written. Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail Highly organised, supportive, collaborative and able to problem solve Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Able to motivate self and contribute as a team player. Emotionally intelligent with the ability to build and maintain relationships across a diverse, geographically dispersed workforce To ensure adherence to finance policies across the business.
