City of York Council has an exciting opportunity within Fleet and Environmental Services.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced manager and leader to oversee our Fleet, Waste, and Public Realm operations, as well as our Fleet compliance and asset management. The successful candidate will have experience managing a diverse council fleet crucial to delivering key services for the community. They will also demonstrate operational management and leadership of large front-line services that provide visible benefits to the residents of York.
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee daily operations including waste and recycling collections, grounds maintenance, street cleansing, and workshop maintenance.
2. Lead and manage a team of operations managers.
3. Ensure health and safety responsibilities are met, maintaining high standards for operational safety.
4. Ensure fleet compliance and maintain an excellent OCRS score through operator licensing knowledge and experience.
5. Contribute to ongoing projects and future initiatives aimed at making the city carbon neutral, enhancing fleet efficiency, and promoting biodiversity.
Qualifications and Experience
The candidate should possess sound knowledge of health and safety oversight, fleet compliance, and operator licensing. Experience in managing large, frontline services, and familiarity with safety regulations is essential.
