Instrument Manufacturing Manager, Llanberis
Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Products Ltd is seeking an Instrument Manufacturing Manager to join our Specialty Lab Diagnostics team at our Llanberis facility. This role is pivotal in supporting a strategic project within our SLS business line, overseeing the production of medical device instruments, ensuring operational efficiency, quality compliance, and process improvements.
This position requires inspirational leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams to meet production goals. You will deputise for the Head of Instruments, working from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and collaborate with the knowledge transfer team to develop best practices for workstation design and manufacturing flow, aiming to establish a world-class manufacturing operation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage production schedules to ensure the timely manufacturing of IMMULITE XPi, Versacell, and spare parts.
2. Lead manufacturing meetings and develop strategies to optimize efficiency and quality using Hoshin Kanri.
3. Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
4. Mentor and lead teams to achieve performance and behavioral goals.
5. Collaborate with design and R&D teams on manufacturing process development.
6. Monitor production metrics and implement improvements.
7. Apply lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste.
8. Train staff on lean methodologies.
9. Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions.
10. Report on production performance and improvements.
11. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
12. Utilize business systems such as SAP, CERDAAC, and others.
13. Ensure safety, health, and environmental compliance.
Required Skills & Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
2. At least 5 years in engineering management, preferably in medical devices.
3. Proven leadership of a team of 50+ members.
4. Experience managing budgets and driving performance improvement.
5. Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma (certified Green or Black Belt preferred).
6. Proficiency with SAP and production management tools.
